Come join us and learn how she does it - and see her personal Top 10 choices for gifts this year. Plus, Ali will tell some of her stories of gift-giving through the years and the thought that went into them and the humor that came out of them.

The receptions will include a lively talk by Ali on inspired gift giving and a sharing of stories from her life of creative, storied giving. Susan Hull Walker, Ibu's founder and creative director, will also give a sneak peak of the soon-to-be launched "Ali + Ibu Collection" coming late spring 2017.

Also, check out ibu's New Africa collection. Designers, tired of dictates from Paris and New York, are returning to their own folkloric roots to fashion a distinctive sense of body, movement, clothing, even fragrance across Africa. African women are taking to the sewing machine, the beading needle, the spindle to create something out of their own hands and imaginations. Africa is defining itself, on its own terms, and ibu is celebrating.
Widows in Togo are fashioning wax printed cotton into swishy skirts. Masai women are beading cuffs and killer necklaces right out of their own collared artistry. Shoes are wrapping up the ankle like the snake bite protectors women have always worn in Namibia. Tie-dyed goat skin is finding form in clutches from Ethiopia. Fur from ranching food production becomes bags of wild desire. Explore the collection at 183 King Street.
North Carolina jewelry designer, Britt Anderson, visits Charleston during Spoleto Festival USA. Anderson creates each of his jewelry art pieces by hand, one at a time. In fact, he uses hand tools, many of which he created, and a 100 year old press, unusual for the modern wearable artist.
He is a master trained goldsmith and apprentice to the revered Werner Theobald, and employs a technique known as anticlastic raising or the art of metal manipulation. Thus, pushing the elastic limits of metal. Incorporating black Tahitian pearls or ethically sourced diamonds, his sculptural forms are deserved of a gallery in Charleston.
Corneau Goldsmithing Jewelry Gallery (92 Hasell Street, Charleston) will host Mr. Anderson in their store on Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th as well as a meet & greet wine and cheese designer reception on Friday, June 10th from 5 pm – 7pm (open to the public).
