Holidays are Here: Time for the Bits of Lace Lingerie Fashion Show

Bits of Lace presents the fashion event of the season, their bi-annual Lingerie Fashion Show. The event will be held at Southend Brewery & Smokehouse, East Bay at Queen Street, December 9 at Cocktails and hors-d'houevres begin at 6:30, Lingerie Show at 8:00 PM.

Models will wear fine lingerie and sleepwear from Bits of Lace, hair by Salon Couture, makeup by EQmakeup, footwear by Bob Ellis and jewelry by Croghan’s Jewel Box. 

Tickets are available at Bits of Lace Fine Lingerie,302 King Street. Ticket price includes entry to the show, hors d’oeuvres throughout the night, two beverages and a chance to win a luxurious Andrés Italian silk robe the following Thursday at Men’s Night.

Each gift card purchase over $200 will receive a $50 add on from Bits of Lace, as a thank you for attending.

Bits of Lace will help make the Holidays bright for children in need by collecting new, unwrapped toys at both the Lingerie Fashion Show and in-store throughout the holidays. All toys will be donated to Debi's Kids  an organization that helps families that have no other resources during the holidays.

Caviar & Bubbly “Friends Night Out” Fundraiser for MUSC Children's Hospital Friday Nov. 19

Friday, November 19 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, Caviar & Bananas will host a caviar tasting to support Friends of MUSC Children’s Hospital. Guests will enjoy live classical guitar music, a selection of hors d’oeuvres and caviar samplings.  Gear up for the holidays with wine and champagne specials and the unique opportunity to pre-order your favorite caviar and gourmet gift baskets. The event will feature samples of five different types of caviar including imported Ossetra as well as several American caviars such as white sturgeon, paddlefish, and salmon roe.  The caviar will be served with two featured sparkling wines.

Walk for Water with Charleston Grill and CHARLIE Magazine

CHARLIE and beloved local philanthropist Mickey Bakst, General Manager of the Charleston Grill are forming a team to march together for Haiti. And that's just what they're going to do, with your help. Join "Team Charleston Grill" for Water Missions International's WALK FOR WATER, which will raise money to build water tanks supplying clean water to Haiti and beyond.

Bella Bridesmaid Contributes to the Cinderella Project

Bella Bridesmaid, the King Street bridesmaid boutique, is helping lowcountry teen girls find that perfect prom dress at no cost in the 10th Annual Cinderella Project March 13 and 20 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 405 King Street, just across from Marion Square.

The Outreach Learning Center at St. Matthew's and the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Bar are pleased to present to the Lowcountry the Tenth Annual Cinderella Project. The Cinderella Project is a national project dedicated to building self-esteem in teenage girls by providing them with a beautiful formal dress for their special occasion. The Cinderella Project lets teenage girls be the belle of the ball.

Teenage girls from South Carolina Junior High and High Schools are invited to visit the “boutique” to find that “perfect dress” for a special occasion in their lives. Assistants will be on hand to help in the process and to match accessories. Food, music and door prizes make this a lively, fun event.

In addition to Bella Bridesmaid, Maddison Row Bridal Chic, Communities in Schools, Charleston School of Law, Ashley Hall School and the MUSC School of Pharmacy are all contributing their time, effort and expertise.

You can help too. Drop off any formal dresses, jewelry, wraps, purses, disposable cameras and door prizes. Croghan's Jewel Box Hosting SEWE Artist Rick Reinert

Croghan’s Jewel Box will remain open to host renowned Charleston landscape artist Rick Reinert during the SEWE King Street Stroll Friday February 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Rick Reinert's art features bold, expressionistic work using nature and sunlight to provide the ultimate reference library. Now living in Charleston, he believes that it is possible to study painting for a lifetime and never have to venture more that one square mile for constant challenges and a wealth of subject matter. Reinert was chosen as a top 100 winner in the 2008 Paint America competition and is a featured artist in the Gadsden Museum of Art Southeastern Plein Air Festival in Gadsden, AL.

The Ants Are Marching Down King Street

The Ants have begun their March Down King Street. In a tribute to Darkness to Light, artist Jeffrey Kennedy and the King Street Marketing Group present The Ants Go Marching Down King Street. The art show featuring Kennedy’s colorful, larger than life ant sculptures are now on display at Berlins Women, Mary Helen McCoy Fine Antiques, Alpha Dog Omega Cat, Kings Courtyard Hotel, Plum Elements and Lily.

Next the ants will march from Market to Calhoun August 8-14, Calhoun to Spring August 15-21, and then to the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood August 22-28.

Kennedy has supported Darkness to Light with his sculptures since their debut at Piccolo Spoleto in 2003, where D2L founder Ann Lee saw a connection between strong little ants who move mountains carrying one grain at a time, and the one-person-at-a-time awareness campaign for child sexual abuse.

The Ants range in size from that of a small dog to the size of a horse. At left is the smaller Ant at Alpha Dog Omega Cat and on the right is a really big Ant in the window of Plum Elements.

Mary Norton's Debuts Video of "Catwalk for Kids"

Mary Norton, Charleston's premier designer of beautiful handbags and gorgeous shoes, released the video of the charitable event she composed and hosted, Catwalk for Kids, during this year's Charleston Fashion Week.

Prepared by the folks at PDA in Charleston, the video is quite a testimony to giving back, and in this case, Mary's devotion to the MUSC Children's Hospital.
