The College Corner is the College of Charleston's newest retail shop for selected College of Charleston merchandise. They also provide valuable information about the College. It's located right on King and George Streets, the primary gateway to the College’s campus for visitors, alumni, students and prospects.
The shop is housed in a beautifully restored historic 1855 corner building. The building was leased to Barton’s Candy, Cards and Gifts Shop from 1960 through 2005. The Silver Puffin took over the shop and ran it until College took over the building in early 2013 in order to restore the shop as a gift shop.
The new store features three windows on George Street and the interior is reminiscent of an old shop with exposed brick and hardwood floors. Pen-and-Ink drawings of the wrought iron gates throughout campus decorate the store. They are done by award winning, local artist Nikki Harris Williams, Class of 1966.
Unlike the Barnes & Noble bookstore on Calhoun Street, The College Corner carries items such as golf shirts, leather briefcases with the College’s logo on them, and College of Charleston jewelry. It also features scarfs with CofC's iconic wrought iron gates and a variety of other gift items, including stationary.
