As we celebrate the landmark 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement, the Gibbes Museum of Fine Art invites you to reflect upon the people and events that made the movement possible. Witness to History: Civil Rights Era Photographs by James Karales is on display at the Gibbes until May 12, 2013. Engaged as a photo-journalist for Look magazine, acclaimed photographer James Karales witnessed and documented many historic events during the Civil Rights movement and created some of the era’s most iconic images. Seen here is "Selma to Montgomery March for Voting Rights in 1965" by James Karales.
See a Curator-Led Tour of the James Karales exhibition on Thursday, February 7th and March 7th at 2:30pm, free with museum admission. See the Gibbes Museum of Fine Art website for more information.
