This the second in a series featuring incredible design work by Mary Helen McCoy in a private residence, a garden home in Mountain Brook, Alabama. In addition to being one of the nation's leading dealers in fine period, 18th century French furniture, Mary Helen McCoy is also a full-service interior designer.
Shown here is the master bedroom where Mary Helen used several furnishings from the previous home she had designed for this client including a soft Savonnerie rug from Stark Carpet, a pair of comfortable chairs, an 18th century Provencal armoire and two 18th century marquetry commodes.
She added an Italian, 18th century, highly carved, painted and gilded headboard with a soft, silk velvet between a pair of pointed silk window treatments to serve as a focal point. This room is a work in progress but it also contains one of two, very similar, important and rare Louis XV Period, carved, walnut, Provencal commodes.
Mary Helen McCoy Fine Antiques is one of the nation’s premier sources for fine and unusual period, 17th to early 19th century, French furniture and decorative arts with an emphasis on the finest period, 18th century French furniture. You can find her at 120 King in the King Street Antiques District in historic downtown Charleston.
