Special CSO Lunch Friday at Halls Chophouse, Celebrates 75th Opening Friday Night

Join us this Friday, January 14 as the Charleston Symphony Orchestra launches their 75th anniversary season with Masterworks Opening Night. Conductor Glen Cortese will lead the CSO in an evening to remember with pieces by Johannes Brahms and Richard Strauss, also featuring Internationally acclaimed voilinist Adele Anthony. The concert takes place at 8pm at the Gaillard Municipal Auditorium at 77 Calhoun St. Tickets are on sale at the Gaillard Box Office and online here.

Ann Caldwell Jazz, Scotch Tasting at Gallery Chuma June 14

Ann Caldwell, Charleston's First Lady of Jazz, will have two performances at Gallery Chuma in the "King Street Whisky & Jazz Tour" Sunday June 14 at 3:30 and 5:30 PM. (Click here to order tickets online.)

Ms. Caldwell, who had four straight sold-out Picollo Spoloeto events at Gallery Chuma, will perform her musical magic as world-renowned Dutch author and whisky expert Hans Offringa presents his newest book, Whisky & Jazz, about classic jazz pieces and how the music resonates perfectly with some of Scotland’s most tasteful single malts. Enjoy a real "sippin' and listening" guided tour as this noted expert tells the history of jazz and whisky and how the music and scotch truly blend.

Enjoy a reception with food by Gullah Cuisine, followed by a vocal performance by Ann Caldwell and her band interspersed with Hans’ commentary and tastings of excellent single malt scotches. (Click here for more information.)

Gallery Chuma to host John Street Jazz in Piccolo Spoleto

 Head to Gallery Chuma to hear Charleston’s first lady of jazz and finest vocalist, Ann Caldwell and her ensemble “LooseFitt Band.” interpret the emotions, rhythms, spirituals and experiences encountered in the Gullah paintings of Jonathan Green through her musical improvisations. Complimentary wine and Gullah hors d’oeuvres provided by Gullah Cuisine Restaurant in a mature party atmosphere before each performance. Sponsored by Gallery Chuma.

As a jazz and blues singer Ann is greatly influenced by the past. She has performed a series of centennial concerts devoted to the music of Duke Ellington and formed the Magnolia Singers to perform the spirituals of times past. Jazz and blues are rich in tradition and history and Ann wants to preserve this musical form.
