It's engagement season, and we're betting a lot of you have some great stories!

I just got wind of one that I couldn't resist sharing.

It begins with Reagan, who works at Kristin Newman Designs (the planning and event design company that helped create Katy and Jeff's wedding from our new winter issue). Reagan was in D.C. over Christmas to see her boyfriend, Grant, who is commissioned in the Marines.

 

 

The couple was walking under the National Christmas Tree when a girl walked by with a golden retriever puppy. Reagan knew she was getting a puppy from Grant for Christmas, but when she stopped to pet the puppy she didn't realize it was actually the puppy she'd be getting. The sweet thing had a tag on it's collar etched with the words "will you marry me." She said yes!

 

 

Oh, that stunner on her finger? A gem from Croghan's Jewel Box, in Charleston, where Reagan lives. Grant picked it out in August, after asking Reagan's father for her hand in July.

 

 

And the pup? Her name's Penny!

We are thankful for a cornucopia of blessings today! We feel like the luckiest place in the world to have such wonderful customers who get our quirkiness, understand our cluttered chaos, and bring us the honor of being involved in the happy occasions of their lives. We are thankful for our employees which we call our JEWELS because they are beyond precious and rare in every way. Happy Thanksgiving Y'all! Pull out all that gorgeous silver, put on a bauble and remember... it is all of YOU that we at Croghan's are so very grateful to have in our lives!!

Meet Frederic Sage next week at the Box!

It's time for our fourth and final trunk show of 2011!  Seven time Spectrum award winner, Frederic Sage, is coming to Croghan's to present his magnificent line of jewelry.  Join us next week for a wine tasting on Wednesday evening... Sip some wine, shop and preview this dazzling collection.  The trunk show will continue on Thursday, which will also be the last day to sign up to win a trip to Napa Valley!

Trunk Shows and Wine Tastings at Croghan's Jewel Box!

Croghan's Jewel Box will be having 4 fabulous trunk shows in 2011 and has partnered with the Wine Shop to give customers a chance to win a trip to Napa Valley!  We will be hosting some of our most exciting designers in our store and will feature a wine tasting from Saintsbury Vineyard to welcome them to Charleston.  Customers can earn a chance to win the trip to Napa Valley 4 different ways:  1. Attend the wine tasting preview, 2. Attend the trunk show, 3. Purchase the featured wine or 4. Purchase  a piece of jewelry from the featured designer. At the end of the last show we will draw a customer's name from a giant sterling trophy and they and a guest will be off for  a 2 night stay at the guest cottage at Saintsbury Vineyard.  The owners will be your host for a front row view of winemaking at it's finest. We are even providing the airfare! The more points you accumulate through the year the better your chances to win!

You know what we are talking about...the sterling brush with no bristles...the toothless comb hiding shamefully in your dresser drawer.  What about that silver tray missing just one foot or the coffee pot to your silver service with a broken handle?  

We invite you to bring all of these things to  Croghan’s  at 308 King Street on Friday, August 26th and Saturday, August 27th for a free estimate from one of the leading experts in the country for Silver replating and repair. Beth Watson Walker, a Charleston native, is married to Dan who is one of about 10 people in the country who can elevate what appears to be a broken down piece of silver into a beautiful work of art! 

         

   

Dan actually had to rebuild this epergne from a bag full of pieces that the customer brought in.  Do you see why we call this an art?  Gaze through all of the pictures below and get inspired by what you may have hidden away in your home!

Silver Refinishing & Replating Clinic on Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27

Our guest silversmith and repair specialist will be in the store on Friday, August 26th and Saturday, August 27th from 10 am - 4 pm to give on-the-spot estimates to repair and re-plate your silver.  Drop off items between 10:00 - 4:00.

Croghan's will be closed on Saturday, July 2 and Monday, July 4. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!
