On Saturday, March 2nd The Art Institute of Charleston presents Festival After Hours: Party Around the World, a Charleston Wine + Food Festival event. A bit about the history of the Feast of the Seven Fishes:
For Italian Families, the Christmas Eve meal is all about the fish. The Feast of the Seven Fishes began as a southern Italian custom to honor the midnight birth of Jesus. Some believe that the seven fishes are served to represent the seven sacraments in the Catholic Church, others believe they honor the seven days it took God to create the world.
Although religious in origin, Christmas Eve, or La Vigilia as it is known in Italy, is still celebrated today as a way for family and friends to gather together to reminisce of old times, create new memories and share a delicious meal!

Known for their creative pizzas and extensive craft beer selection, Mellow Mushroom on King Street will prepare an eclectic, four-course beer fusion dinner inspired by foods from Italy and the American South on Wednesday, October 26th at 7pm.
