Charleston Restaurant Week is back for 2012 and for more than a week, you can try some delicious discounted menus at your favorite restaurants or try something new!  From January 12th to the 22nd be sure to stop by Il Cortile del Re who will be offering an amazing 3-course menu for $30: 

APPETIZERS: Cozze Alla Diavola- Sauteed Mussels in a Spicy Tomato/Garlic Broth topped with Fresh Parsley OR Insalate Italiana- Mixed Greens, Shredded Carrots, Roasted Peppers, Black Olives, and Tomatoes in a Red Wine Vinegar Dressing.

ENTREES: Coscio D'Agnello Al Forno- Braised Lamb Shank served over Garlic Mashed Potatoes in a Sage/Pancette Lamb Jus OR Penne Ai Tre Sapori- Penne Pasta with Sauteed Asparagus, Pancetta, and Wild Mushrooms in a Light Cream Sauce.

Mellow Mushroom to Host Four-Course Beer Fusion Dinner October 26th

Known for their creative pizzas and extensive craft beer selection, Mellow Mushroom on King Street will prepare an eclectic, four-course beer fusion dinner inspired by foods from Italy and the American South on Wednesday, October 26th at 7pm. 

Unlike traditional beer dinners, this dinner will enlighten guests in the ways in which food can be infused with beer, thus taking on a whole new range of flavors. Each beer-infused course will be accompanied with the beer used to prepare the dish.

The beers they will be cooking with are as follows:

1. La Chouffe Petite-Belgian Light Wheat

2. St. Peters English Ale

3. Highland Clawhammer-marzen Style Oktobefest

4. Framboise Lambic

Osteria la Bottiglia will host a Wine Dinner Monday July 25 at their new Upper King location at 420 King Street. The evening will begin with a Sparkling Chardonnay Reception at 7:00 PM followed by dinner at 7:30. Just $55 per person plus tax and gratuitiy. Call 843.727.4158 for reservations.

Begin the evening with a Roasted Bell Peppers,fresh spinach and Octopus Salad in balsamic vinaigrette paired with a L'Armangia Monferrato Bianco (Sauvignon Blanc) 2010, from Piedmont.

The main course is a Roman Style Lamb Ragout on pappardelle pasta matched with a lovely red Alovini "Terre degli Eventi" Rosso (Aglianico/Sangiovese) 2009, Basilicata.

Following dinner, enjoy La Querce Chianti Fiorentini "La Torretta" 2007, Tuscany followed by a selection of Artisanal Italian Cheeses paired with Sant'Agnese Rosso Toscana (Merlot/Sangiovese) 2007 from Tuscany.

Lunch at Il Cortile del Re and the Best Sandwich Ever!

Lunch at Il Cortile del Re, our Lower King Street enoteca con cucina, is always a treat. I enjoy the seating choices; cool bistro, cozy intimate rooms or a wonderful courtyard for dining alfresco. The spicy soppressata, provolone and arugula panini with Il Cortile's fabulous three bean salad is an easy choice; I love soppressata. The cured, dry Italian salami you find hanging unrefrigerated over deli counters up North is something I always smuggle back from trips. The server explained that Il Cortile's version is less fatty and has a nice kick, not to mention this selection contains the ideal color pallet of genuine Italian food: red, white and green. Just what I need; another addiction. This sandwich is so delicious! Just enough of the salami, nice arugula contrast and rich, melty provolone. Called the Muratore, it's my new Italian love object. Mmmmm. Sunday Brunch goes Italian at Pane E Vino

Sunday brunch is one of my favorite things. Perfectly poached eggs with a delicious, tangy hollandaise, fresh spinach, crunchy toast, topped with fresh herbs. Uova Alla Fiorentina with roasted potatoes and fresh fruit.

Bruschetta Italiana, toasted bread drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, fresh chopped tomatoes, basil and oregano grown right on the patio, topped with poached eggs.

Add strong black coffee, a beautiful alfresco setting, fresh flowers everywhere and Italian music. Simply perfect brunch at Pane E Vino.  

Pane E Vino is located at 17 Warren Street in Charleston's Upper King Design District. The atmosphere is as wonderful as the food. You can choose a cozy table inside, enjoy the patio, or sit at the outdoor bar where there's live music at night.

Dish: Monza Count Louis Neapolitan Pizza

Fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, roasted mushrooms and salumeria biellese pepperoni on a hand-tossed crust of San Felice flour and natural Neapolitan yeast, blended in a mixer imported from Naples and cooked in a wood fired over at 1000 degrees until it's so crisp, so good, just look at it! Monza is located in the Upper King Design District at 451 King Street, right next door to Closed For Business, home of the Pork Slap. This is one awesome pie. Have an Italian wine or beer. Sit at the bar and watch the chefs at work. Linger. Mmmmmmm Monza.
