Celebrate Oktoberfest with Closed for Business

Closed for Business is pulling out all the stops in celebration of Oktoberfest! The two-day event features Oktoberfest beers, sausages prepared by amazing local guest chefs, live music, house-made pretzels, festive décor and much more!

Put on your favorite tracht, dirndl or lederhosen and join us Friday, October 1 from 6:00 to 11:00 PM and Saturday, October 2 from Noon to 11:00 PM in the parking lot next door to Closed for Business at the corner of King and Radcliffe 

Dance to the live music by Hans Schmidt German Band and savor sausages by Chefs Kevin Johnson (REV), Sean Brock (McCrady's), Jeremiah Bacon (Carolina's), Jason Houser (Meat House) and  Mike Lata (Fig).   

Closed for Business brings fresh and local ingredients and techniques to the classic American neighborhood bar – a unique spin on Southern traditional pub food favorites. CFB features the most eclectic draught beer selection in the Southeast with 36 taps and counting. CFB is at 453 King Street in the Upper King Design District of downtown Charleston.

The Unofficial Creekside Band to Rock at Eye Level Art

The Unofficial Creekside Band, a bluesy soulful, funked up rockin roller coaster will perform their musical magic at Eye Level Art April 16 from 7:00 to 11:00 PM. Eye Level Art is at 103 Spring Street in the Cannonbourough - Elliotbourough area just off Upper King.

The Unofficial Creekside Band is influenced by talents like Marvin Gaye, The Police, Pure Prairie League, The Temptations and The Rolling Stones. Made up of four local musicians: Steve Luisi from the King Street Kitchen Company (photo at right) on the lead guitar, bass and drums; Jay White with his acoustic electric, drums, and trombone; Johnny Weeks on the acoustic electric, drums and Barry Lester playing bass, lead guitar, and mandolin. The band performs both original material and covers of favorite classics.

Join Eye Level Art for an evening of bluesy, soulful rockin' roller fun! Doors open at 7:00 and The Unofficial Creekside Band starts at 7:45 PM.

Tickets are $10 at the door. Student Tickets are $5 and must be purchased directly from the gallery. Student Tickets may be purchased no later than one hour before doors.

Celebrate the Season at Mac & Murphy December 17 with fashion handbag designer Allison Abney and artist Whitney Kreb from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at their store at 74.5 Cannon Street.

Allison Abney began creating handbags in 2003 in a selfish effort to create what she couldn't find: a sophisticated, luxe accessory for any evening. Allison designs handbags to complement the most elegant of classic gowns, which wear equally as well with jeans and a tank. Allison Abney handbags are "feminine, sexy conversation pieces." Drawing inspiration from the chic, fun-loving women around her, Allison combines vintage and silk fabrics with modern design to create timeless handbags.

Now living in Charleston, Whitney Kreb's, oil paintings pay tribute to the inherent characteristics of the coastal landscapes. Her contemporary approach to a traditional subject matter results in a unique interpretation of east coast scenery, as well as a playful demonstration of painting's capabilities. She was recently named "Promising New Artist" by the Artists' Association of Nantucket.
